With his terrible breath and his wandering hands? 呼吸粗重，受阻無措？
It’s because little Fantine won’t give him his way 因為芳汀給他臉色看
Take a look at his trousers, you’ll see where he stands! 看看褲子你就知道他的立場（這一句有隱晦雙關義……自己看）
And the boss, he never knows 可是老闆，他一無所知
That the foreman is always in heat 工頭這傢夥正憋著火
If Fantine doesn’t look out 若芳汀不小心

[She grabs the letter from Fantine.]
[她搶過了芳汀手裏的信。]
“Dear Fantine you must send us more money… “親愛的芳汀你得多寄點錢……
Your child needs a doctor… 你女兒急需看病……
There’s no time to lose!” 十萬緊急，切勿拖延！”

Give that letter to me, it is none of your business 把信還我，少來多管閒事
With a husband at home and a bit on the side 家裏守著老公和熱炕頭

[They fight over the letter. Valjean rushes over tobreak up the squabble.]

There’s a man she has to pay 那人向她討賬
You can guess how she picks up the extra 可想而知她怎麼攢錢
You can bet she’s earning her keep sleeping around 除了睡遍附近一圈！
And the boss wouldn’t like it! ——老闆可不會喜歡！
Fantine 芳汀
Yes it’s true there’s a child and the child is my daughter 沒錯，那孩子她是我的女兒
And her father abandoned us leaving us flat 她父親狠心絕情拋棄了我們
Now she lives with an innkeeper man and his wife 現在她跟開旅館的住在一起
And I pay for the child 我為她付賬
What’s the matter with that? 這有什麼好講？
